Air Fryer Steak Fajitas are an easy and delicious dinner recipe that can be on the table in less than 30 minutes. My family loves fajitas and this recipe is easy to prep ahead of time so all that’s left to do when you get home from work is throw it all in the air fryer.

Make Air Fryer Steak Fajitas
First, slice peppers and onions into thin strips. Season with a little bit of olive oil and salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Pour the veggies into an air fryer and cook at 400 degrees for about 13 minutes or until they are cooked to your liking.
While the peppers and onions are cooking, slice the steak into thin slices and season with 1 tbsp of oil, salt, pepper, cumin, dried cilantro, chili powder, and cayenne powder.
Squeeze the juice of one lime over the meat. Stir until the steak is well coated in seasoning. Remove the peppers and onions from the air fryer and set aside. Next, add the steak to the hot air fryer. Cook at 400 degrees for about 5-7 minutes or until the steak is cooked to your liking.
Make the Chipotle Vinaigrette
While the air fryer steak fajitas is cooking in the air fryer, I like to make the vinaigrette. You could also make this ahead of time and have it ready to go in the refrigerator.
Combine two chipotle peppers, red wine vinegar, honey, minced garlic, salt, pepper, oregano, cumin and a little spoonful of the sauce from the chipotle peppers in a food processor.
Start the processor and slowly add in the oil a little bit at a time. Blend together until everything is well combined.
Serve Steak Fajitas
Once the steak and veggies are cooked how you like them, it’s time to eat! Heat up flour tortillas and add a scoop of the peppers, onions, and steak. Top with the Chipotle Vinaigrette and some sour cream.
I served this with some microwaveable cilantro lime rice.
What Kind Of Steak To Use For Fajitas
In my opinion, the best beef for fajitas is skirt steak. It’s very tender and can be cooked well without getting tough. It also soaks up marinades really well for tons of flavor. Flank steak also works really well. It’s a little tougher but has great beefy flavor.
You can also make air fryer fajitas with leftover sirloin or boneless strip steak. If using steak that’s already been cooked, keep a close eye on the cooking time. You’ll only need to cook it for 3 or 4 minutes to warm the meat through.
Time and Temp for Air Fryer Steak Fajitas
You’ll put the peppers and onions into a bowl and toss them with some oil and seasonings. Then these veggies go into the air fryer at 360°F for 10 minutes.
After the 10 minutes, you’ll remove the steak strips from the marinade, pat them dry, and add them to the air fryer on top of the veggies. Cook the steak with the veggies underneath at 360°F until the steak is to your desired doneness, 5-10 minutes.
How To Season Steak Fajitas
Some people use a dry rub on steak fajitas, similar to the seasoning on this air fryer chicken fajita dinner. That’s good, but I prefer using a marinade in this recipe. My go-to quick marinade for fajitas includes lime juice, olive oil, and soy sauce. I add garlic, cumin, and chili powder for extra flavor. If you have a bit more time, I do also suggest trying the chipotle-citrus marinade used in this Carne Asada recipe. It’s truly amazing.
Fajita Toppings
This air fryer steak fajitas filling is so tasty that you don’t need to add any extra toppings, but what’s the fun in that? I like to set out bowls of salsa, sour cream, and guacamole for sure. And if I have time and the ingredients, I also put out some shredded cheese, chopped green onions, cilantro, pico de gallo, and maybe some of this tasty black bean and corn salsa, so everyone can customize their plates. Lime wedges are another great way to brighten up the flavor.

- If you don’t have an air fryer you can just cook the steak and veggies in a large skillet on the stove.
- For the Chipotle Peppers I have bought a 7 oz can of La Constena brand Chipotle Peppers in Adobo Sauce. I used 2 full peppers and one spoonful of the sauce for the vinaigrette. Add more peppers to make it extra spicy. You can stir in some sour cream to the sauce to make it less spicy.
